Rolling the Dice…
Many a day feels like that picture and I really wouldn’t have it any other way….
I finally got around to ripping open the quaketronics High Speed Photog kit. After a bit of marvelling at the design of a disposable camera — they are extraordinarily optimized towards cost minimization even down to using the film as a mechanical coupling — I hacked in the remote trigger jack as per the excellent instructions included with the kit. Painless operation. Shorting the capacitor was scary, but everything else was quite straightforward.
I then ghetto-mounted the former-disposable-camera-now-remote-flash to a tripod by taping a square chunk of metal with the appropriate threads cut into the middle to the bottom of the camera. Works well enough.
The die rolling shot shown above is with a minimal delay. Basically, the first die that struck the table loud enough triggered the flash.
Fun fun stuff. In this last photo, you can see the little microphone that is used to trigger the quaketronics unit. It can also be triggered by changes in visible light.
Photo subject suggestions anyone?

Wow, brilliant!
If you have a hyperactive toaster, toast jumping out of it would be cool.

I think it might be a law that you have to do a balloon popping?
